Nottingham Forest are set to be affected more by the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON tournament) scheduled to kick-off this January 13th to 11th February.

 

With several Premier league clubs set to lose some of their players who will be heading for the 2023 AFCON, Nottingham Forest will be the most affected club as they will lose as many as 6 players going to the tournament more than any other Premier League side.
Here is the list of their players who will be absent during that period as their right back Serge Aurier will be on duty for the AFCON 2023 hosts Ivory Coast together with his fellow countrymen Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangaré who will represent Cote D’Ivoire.
Their centre-back Moussa Niakhaté and their defensive midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté will also be representing Senegal team commonly known as the Lions of Teranga.
The tricky trees will also be without their full-back Ola Aina who will be representing the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Nottingham forest have been in the best form since they sacked their manager Steve Cooper and he replaced Portuguese Nuno Espirito who has lost one game and won two against Newcastle United 3-1 and 2-1 win over Manchester United.

It is yet to be seen how Nottingham Forest will cope without those 6 key players for a period of AFCON depending how far they will reach with their nations.
Other English clubs that have lost their players to AFCON is Liverpool’s forward Mohamed Salah who will be with Egypt, Manchester United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana with Cameroon and Spurs midfielder Pape Matar Sarr with Senegal among others.
