In a video of the incident shared online, we saw Ray G insisting to perform before Azawi and the latter refusing to hand over the microphone.

The scuffle went on for some minutes and when the videos hit social media, it divided the fans into two groups sparking tribalism. Western artists where Ray G hails from swore that Azawi would never step foot and perform in their district.

Amidst the chaos, Azawi also released a statement on her X account terming Ray G as an unprofessional and disrespectful artist.

The feud took a turn when Ray G was pelted with bottles when he stepped on stage to perform at the New Year’s Eve Enkuuka Tobongoota on December 31st in Lubiri, Mengo, an event organized in the central region.

Using his position as the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) President, Eddy Kenzo took to social media to condemn the act, labeling it as absurd. He revealed that he directed the Federation secretariat to get to the root cause of the issue and provide the report.

‘…I have been following closely as events unfold both in Mbarara and Kampala about the tribal sentiments, and I must tell you it’s absurd for our industry at this time when our main focus is unity

Well, Amidst all that happened, we were all busy in our Christmas schedules, and we couldn’t come out immediately to address it.

However, I have directed the Uganda National Musicians Federation Secretariat to fully investigate and give a report from which findings the executive will advise.

I personally condemn acts of violence and tribalism within the industry because our Ugandan culture is rich because of its diversity, and let’s be reminded that we don’t choose who we are.

I also encourage association leaders from Greater Ankore to work with the Secretariat to ensure that sanity prevails again.’

The two artists have since made up and they shared a photo of them chilling together, leaving their fans wondering what to do next.
