66-Seater Bus Crushes in Londiani, Kericho County

40 casualties evacuated to Fort Tenarn Hospital, Kenya Red Cross reports/Image courtesy

It is a sad morning for Kenya after a Road Accident involving a 66- Seater Bus occured at Londiani.

 

According to reports as shared by the Kenya Red Cross, at least 40 people have sustained injuries in the fatal accident that occured at around 3am today.

 

They have been rushed to Fort Tenarn Hospital while others referred to Kericho County Referral Hospital for further treatment.

 

“40 casualties evacuated to Fort Tenarn Hospital; 4 referred to Kericho County Referral Hospital by County ambulance,”Kenya Red Cross Reported

A Passenger is also  said to have suffered a miscarriage during the heartbreaking incident.

 

Rift Valley Regional Police Commander Tom Odera notes that the driver was trying to avoid hitting a car when the accident occured.

 

“The driver of the bus says he was trying to avoid hitting a car that was ahead of him after it applied emergency breaks as they drove the stretch,” he said.

Fortunately, no deaths have been reported.

 

The accident comes only months after another deadly accident occured at Londiani junction leaving over 50 people dead.
