Eliud Kipchoge Bags Doctorate Degree From JKUAT
Four-time London World Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge was today awarded a Doctorate degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Main campus Thika.
This happened during the 41st graduation ceremony held in the institution toda 1st December,2023 for his outstanding marathon records achieved throughout his career.
Kipchoge embodied the motto ‘No Human in Limited’ in 2019 when he embarked on an attempt to break the 2-hour mark for running the marathon distance which he achieved in a time of 1:59:40.
Eliud Kipchoge Shifts Focus To Upcoming Olympics
He became the first person to run a marathon distance under 2 hours.
The event was known as The INEOS 1:59 and took place on 12th of October 2019 .
Since then, Kipchoge has won Tokyo Olympic games in 2021, Berlin marathon in 2022 and this year’s 2023 Berlin marathon. With the victory, Kipchoge became the first man in history to win the Berlin marathon 5 times, having won in 2015, 2017,2018 and 2022.
The institution said the reason of awarding him with an honorary doctorate degree is because of his remarkable accomplishments in athletics and his Humanitarian actions through his ‘Eliud Kipchoge Foundation’.

“To the graduating class, education I believe is the most empowering tool we possess. They say many are schooled but few are educated. I trust that these 4700 graduands are educated,” he said
