Manchester United fans and football fanbase in general received a major shocker as academic graduate Kobbie Mainoo gave an epic performance in  his first Premier League start for the Red Devils.

 

The 18 year-old  was born in Stockport in England by Ghanaian parents but chose to represent the Three Lions where he has represented England in U-17, U-18 and U-19 but  still eligible to represent Ghana.

 

The academic graduate was handed his first Premier League start and he produced a masterclass performance.

The composure he possessed, as well as the defensive awareness, made him stand out amongst the rest of the midfielders in the United team yesterday against the Toffees.

 

He also made a crucial goal-line clearance from the teenager that really showed his impressive awareness in the heart of the midfield.

 

In post match interview, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes had a high praise on the midfielder

“A great match. For me, he is the man of the match. He put in a great performance. He is comfortable with the ball and never makes a mistake. For his age he has so much qualities. He sees things before others”

The youngster made his senior debut for the Red Devils in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Charlton Athletic on 10th of January 2023, playing 30 minutes, and then he made his league debut in February after coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 win against Leicester City for the final 10 minutes.

 

“His first league start could not have gone any better, and he will be keen to establish himself as a regular fixture in the Man United starting XI going forward,”Sir Ferguson said
