The two had met the previous night at a club, where Mueni’s husband and others were gathered for funeral preparations.

After the meeting concluded around 1 am, Mueni’s husband left for home, leaving his wife at the club with friends.

Kimani, the deceased, later joined Mueni at the same bar, and they continued drinking together.

After leaving the club, Mueni arrived home at 3 am, finding her husband already asleep.

The following day, Mueni’s husband left for a funeral in Limuru, Kiambu county, while Mueni visited her boyfriend’s house around 7 am.

According to Mueni, Kimani experienced difficulty in breathing, coughing and weakness during their intimate session.

She claimed that he collapsed, hitting his head on the bed’s frame and falling unconscious.

Mueni rushed to call for help from Kimani’s colleagues and relatives, who took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The autopsy conducted at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital’s mortuary revealed that Kimani’s cause of death was an injury to the head caused by blunt force trauma.

Mueni, the last person seen with the deceased, was charged under the ‘last seen with’ doctrine.

The case is scheduled to be mentioned on February 22, with the hearing set to commence on May 30, 2024.

Among the witnesses are Kimani’s relatives, colleagues, and Mueni’s husband.
