Amari Joy Bridget was at her security guard work place few meters to her home when her 14-year-old maid Fayirose Nsumbatala, came running and crying, telling her boss how his 10-months-old baby had been murdered.
She rushed home and what she found was something she would never forget her entire life. It was her son’s little body lying in a pool of blood on their bed.
“I’m a security guard but I became powerless and lost my mind. I started thinking about what I did to the person who killed my baby. It couldn’t come to my mind that it was my mind and I’ll forever wonder where she got such a bad heart’, she said amidst tears.

Upon Nsumbatala’s arrest, she said she killed Messiah Jonathan Barrack because she was tired of being tortured by his mother who was her boss.
The teenage killer told officers at Katwe police station about how her boss had for long mistreated her, and in return, she put the anger on an innocent child.
She hit him with a log on his head and stabbed him with a knife in the neck, killing him instantly. After she had committed the gruesome murder, she ran to her boss’s workplace and in tears, she told Amari that an unknown person had killed baby Jonathan while she went out to buy charcoal at a nearby shop.
According to the officers, the murder was premeditated because the execution was so brutal and she had the knife hidden in the same house for some time as she laid out the plan to take him out.
She further told officers that she was tired of being a maid but was forced into it and every time she tried to run away from Amari’s home, they would search for her and bring her back.

Even on the day of the murder, she had decide to run back to her home but was interrupted by Amari who brought her back to look after the baby. This prompted her to end the life of the baby they were forcing her to take care of since she was stuck in a job she didn’t want because of him.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire revealed that although the 14-year-old Nsumbatala was a minor, she would still be tried under the law for the case of murder.
The incident happened in November 2022 and a year later, the wounds are still fresh and Amari will forever wonder where a 14-year-old decided to take the life of an innocent child.
