Best Friends Suffer 3 Missing Teeth, Broken Rib Over Missing Phone
Two best friends, John Kibathi and Dennis Kamau, are now seeking justice after being beaten for allegedly stealing a phone by residents of Nembu, Gatundu.
Kibathi and Kamau said that they were spending their evening at a joint in Nembu village when they were attacked by a group of youths who were partying at the joint, claiming they had stolen one of their friend’s phone.
One of the victims, Kibathi, claims a broken rib and a damaged face as a result of the severe beatings he had received.

“We were accused of stealing a phone in Nembu and were beaten mercilessly by the accusers. We did not have that phone, and even after beating us and looking for the phone, there was no phone that was recovered. They beat us with stones and sticks,” he said while in Gatundu Hospital, where he was being treated after the incident.
On the other hand, his friend Kamau had multiple facial and head injuries and three broken teeth.
“We were seated somewhere in Nembu, and one of the people who was sitting beside us said they had lost a phone. They then picked us and started beating us up with stones and sticks. They had even moved us from the town center to a secluded place where we didn’t know what they wanted to do,” Kamau said.
