Kakamega Homeboyz Defeats Gor Mahia
Gor Mahia lost 3-2 to Kakamega Homeboyz yesterday at Kasarani Stadium.
As the FKF Premier League neared its conclusion, Gor Mahia needed to win to increase their chances of winning the league. They were, however, left annoyed after they were beaten 3-2 by Kakamega Homeboyz.
In the 12th minute of the game, Shafik Kagimu’s diving header from Austin Odhiambo’s exquisite cross gave K’Ogalo the lead. In the 38th minute, Ambrose Sifuna capitalized on a careless clearance to even the score.
Odhiambo gave Gor Mahia the lead in the 47th minute. Kevin Amwayi, though, quickly ended K’Ogalo’s celebration with an equalizer in the 56th minute. Hillary Juma then scored the winner for Kakmega Homeboyz in extra time, much to the annoyance of Gor Mahia fans.
Speaking after the game, Gor Mahia coach McKinstry said they gave a good fight. “We put up a good fight, but our opponents fought tooth and nail to carry the day. Homeboyz were calm throughout the encounter because they had absolutely nothing to lose,” McKinstry said.
Gor Mahia still leads the table on goal difference after Tusker drew 1-1 earlier in the day.
