Omtatah: Kenya Kwanza MP Gave Me Money In Relation To My Finance Bill Petition
As the housing fund debate continue to heaten up in the country, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah who has filed a petition against it has revealed that a Kenya Kwanza allied legislator came in hand to support his petition.
While speaking on NTV, Omtatah said the legislator, who he did not reveal, handed Ksh. 10,000 to him to aid in photocopying of his petition papers.
“It is not Azimio alone. Many Kenya Kwanza MPs whom I cannot name have approached me (to say they do not support the bill). One is a frontline legislator in Kenya Kwanza who has even given me Ksh.10,000 as support for all the photocopying I did because I am saving them,” he said.
Omtatah in his petition termed the Finance Bill especially mandatory deduction of 3% of employees salaries to support the Housing Fund was injuring the socio-economic rights of Kenyans.
He also termed his petition as one meant to protect the constitution and not as one affected by his political stand.
“I am not a member of Azimio, but I agree with the stance Azimio has taken. If Kenya Kwanza takes a stance I agree with, I will also support them. It is all about constitutionalism and I am happy to have Azimio’s backing on this issue,” he said.
