Valencia Hit With Stadium Ban After Vinicius Jr Racism

La Liga has fined Valencia and also imposed a stadium ban after Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. was subjected to racism during the week.

Laliga also released a statement confirming Vinicius Jr.’s red card was revoked.

“An extraordinary, serious, and completely unusual circumstance exists, which, in our opinion, renders the decision made by the referee, as reflected in the report under examination, patently arbitrary since it is based on altered and partial facts. Consequently, it is clearly invalid to use this as a basis for imposing a sanction.” read the statement.

Three people have been detained by Spanish police in connection with the insults directed at the Brazilian on Sunday at Mestalla Stadium.

Valencia was also received 45,000 euros ($39,000) in penalties. The south stand at Valencia will be shut down, and the club has 10 business days to file an appeal.

Football players, including Raphinha, wore t-shirts supporting Vinicius Jr., and the whole Barcelona squad held a burner supporting Vinicius.
