Kanini Kega Cancels Jubilee NDC Congress Called By Uhuru Kenyatta
EALA MP Kanini Kega has cancelled the special National Delegates Conference (NDC) called by the leader of the Jubilee party, Ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The wrangles in the party has now escalated after the side led by Kega and that of Jeremiah Kioni continued to argue about the leadership of the party.
In a statement signed by Kega, the group says the party will issue a notice to convene a Special National Delegates Conference.
“Be aware that the national central committee of the Jubilee party (NEC) has canceled the notice of the special conference of national delegates published in the media on April 29” read part of the statement by Kanini Kega.
On the 29th of April, Kenyatta called a special meeting which he said would be held on the 22nd of May.
In a notice signed by retired President Kenyatta, the party said the agenda of the conference is to review, formulate and approve the party’s policies, along with receiving information on the state of the party from the national executive committee and considering and approving all other matters.
Last week, the Kega faction announced the dismissal of Uhuru as the leader of the Jubilee party as the disputes in the former ruling party increased.
The Kega wing announced the special member of parliament Sabina Chege as the party’s acting leader in a meeting held on May 2, 2023.
