One Year Old Murdered In Suspected Child Sacrifice
Police in Mitooma District are investigating the murder of a one-year-old toddler who was found dismembered in what is believed to be an act of child sacrifice.
The parents of the toddler identified as Owamani Iden reported him missing on 27th April, 2023 by filing a missing person’s case at Kashensheroro Police.
The deceased’s father, Maguru Justus revealed that he had gone to a nearby garden, leaving the toddler behind together with his elder sister at around 6:30 PM. He however was shocked when he returned in less than 30 minutes only to find the child missing.
The greater Bushenyi police spokesperson Tumusiime Marcial revealed that investigations had been launched immediately to search for the victim but in vain.
Owamani’s body was found in Kigyende Village, Kanyabwanga Parish, Mitooma District with his private parts and limbs missing. Maguru believes the area is being hunted by a gang of suspected witchdoctors who are preying on young children for money rituals.
“On Tuesday, the case file had been forwarded to Mitooma Central Police Station for further management since the victim wasn’t seen yet. But shortly after receiving the case, the body of the victim was found dumped,” he said.
According to Kigyende LC1 chairperson, Amon Byamaka, the act did not come as a surprise considering the big number of witchdoctors in the area.
“We are yet to see more of this unless the government regulates the witchdoctors,” he said.
