Manchester City forward Erling Haaland scored again as City defeated West Ham 3-0 on Wednesday evening.
West Ham held Manchester City to a goalless first half for the first time since Matchday 11. Jareld Bowen had the best chance for West Ham but could not finish, as his shot was saved by a rare appearance from Stefan Ortega.
However, Manchester City got things rolling in the second half. Thanks to a fantastic assist from Riyad Mahrez, Nathan Ake was able to finally start the scoring with a header from a free-kick early in the second half.
Erling Haaland then added the second goal with a lovely chip after 70 minutes. Phil Foden’s deflected volley completed City’s seventh straight league win, which restored their lead over Arsenal in the standings.
Pep Guardiola heaped praise on the incredible Erling Haaland performance after the game.
“Incredible,” Guardiola said. “He’s just 22 and still has five games left. No matter how many games I made the substitution after a hat-trick in 60 minutes, maybe he’d have scored more. But maybe he’d have gotten injured. He’s special. Congratulations to him.” He said.
With the goal yesterday, Erling Haaland broke the record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League campaign.
