Police Officer Jailed For 30 years For Killing A Businessman over Drink
A Police officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations accused of killing a businessman for failing to buy him a bottle of beer has been sentenced to 30 years in Prison.
In the judgement delivered by Lady Justice Mary Kasango, the officer, Edward Moi Munjula used excessive force on the businessman with no justification over the same.
According to court records the scuffle engulfed after the businessman William Mwangi Kimani declined to buy the officer a drink after which the security detail in the Club intervened and threw out the officer.
It further stated that while Kimani was reversing his car out of the parking space, the officer shot him seven times through the front window, killing him instantly.
“It is not in doubt that the shooting was by a serving police officer, who should have protected him,” Justice Kasango said.
International Justice Mission which had Presented the case via it’s Country director Benson Shamala thanked the court for finalising the 2017 Case.
