Newcastle Boosts Champions League Aspirations

Newcastle defeated Everton 4-1 away at Goodison Park on Thursday in the Premier League.

Newcastle’s Callum Wilson scored twice, once in each half, first poking home the opening goal and then curling a beautiful 25-yard shot into the top corner.

On the stroke of halftime, Dominic Calvert-Lewin believed he had tied the score for Everton, but a lovely dinked effort was disallowed for offside. Joelinton continued his brilliant form as he also found the back of the net after superb play by Joe Willock, who helped set up the goal.

Dwight McNeil then scored directly from a corner kick to make it 3-1, but substitute Jacob Murphy ensured that Newcastle went home with the three points by scoring the fourth goal.

The win took Newcastle up to third place with 62 points after 32 games played, and they now look set to play Champions League football next season having failed to do so in over a decade.

Everton however dropped to 19th place with 28 points from 33 games played and are in danger of relegation with just 5 games left to play for.
