Student Arrested For Stabbing Colleague To Death
Police in Kapchorwa District have in custody a student who allegedly stabbed his colleague to death in their hostel room.
The deceased, Mwanga Jeremiah, a second year agriculture student at Uganda Christian Institute for Professional Development was stabbed in the abdomen by Changlangant Ismail following a disagreement that arose as they were playing cards at their hostel.
After he was stabbed, Mwanga allegedly walked to Pal Medical Clinic just near the hostel for medical attention. He was referred to Lira Referral Hospital where he passed on a few hours after arrival.
According to other students, the two students did not reside in the same hostel but only met up at their friend’s room to play cards. Sam Omara, the school’s ED revealed that they had little information about the students since they did not stay within the campus premises.
Okema Patrick Jimmy, North Kyoga Police region spokesperson confirmed the arrest of the suspect in Kapchorwa.
“As I speak now, he is in the police cell in Kapchorwa. Arrangements are underway to bring him back to Lira to face charges of murder,” he said.
