Man Surrenders To Police After Killing his Mother over Land In Siaya County
A 26 years old man has surrendered himself to the police after killing his mother in Migosi Village Gongo Sub-location, Yala Subcounty.
The man identified as Silas Odongo is believed to have sliced up his mother Jenifer Atieno before submitting himself to Sinaga police station.
Mr. Franklin Odhiambo, the area Assistant Chief, confirmed that the suspect had for a long time been in a land tussle with his mother adding that the suspect wanted his mother to evict the land as he claimed it belonged to him.
He revealed that in 2014, Jenifer was accused of having a hand in the death of her husband over the same land and the deceased was arrested and sentenced to several years’ imprisonment.
Odhiambo further disclosed that late Jenifer decided to build a house on the land after serving her prison term before her son, Silas, claimed proprietorship.
He clarified Silas’ actions based on the events that had occurred before the untimely death of Jenifer Atieno.
The Assistant Chief also confirmed that the body of the deceased was taken to Siaya County Referral Hospital Mortuary while the suspect is in police custody as they await for further probe in to the matter.
