Jane Doe being pulled out of Nalukolongo Swamp
Residents in Natete, Rubaga Division woke up to news of a dead body that was found floating in a nearby swamp.
The body of the Jane Doe, a suspected boda boda cyclist, was discovered dressed in a jacket and since he is not known around the area, locals presume that he was killed in a different location and his body dumped in the Nalukolongo swamp.
Residents blame the mysterious dumping of the dead body in their area on the police post that was shifted giving criminals liberty to terrorize the village because there is no security.
“While the police post was still in the area, we had some sort of protection but ever since they moved, we have reported a lot of murder cases in the area,” a concerned resident revealed.
The body was taken to Mulago Referral Hospital for postmortem and Kampala Metropolitan police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigirye revealed that investigations on the identity of the deceased and the cause of death have commenced.
“The man was discovered in the water and unless the doctors carrying out the postmortem determine if he was first murdered before being thrown in the water, we assume that the cause of death was drowning,” he said.
