Grade 8 Boy Loses One Testicle After Being Beaten By Teachers

Police in Nyamira are investigating into a matter where a 15- year-old boy is alleged to have been assaulted by his teachers.
The boy from Bitungusu Primary School, Kitutu Masaba Constituency is reported to have severely been beaten by two teachers after he had an altercation with his fellow female pupil.
This comes a week after another grade four pupil in Nyamira was pinned down by fellow pupils and given more than 100 strokes on his buttocks by a teacher.
Bitungusu Primary School boy after being assaulted by his teachers on March , 24th April, his mother told the Nation that she saw her son falling on Sunday after making some moves prompting her to call a brother for check up.
When enquiring the boy what had happened, the mother said her son never responded till she concluded to herself to be a boil having developed at her son’s genitalia.
Following the incident, the family took the boy to Getare Dispensary where the boy was then referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital( KTRH).
Medical practitioners at KTRH after carrying out a deep search, they found the boy’s testicle severely injured where the mother disclosed that her boy was beaten by his teachers.
“He told me that his teachers had beaten him up after he and another pupil argued in school,”the mother said.
Because of the severe condition of the boy’s testicle, a private hospital in Nyamira by name Bosongo Hospital carried out the surgery and removed the injured testicle.
The mother due to the pain she felt upon her son disclosed that she pursued the school Deputy Teacher Mr. Elkanah Omari over the assault but admits the response she received was never good to her.
As the boy recuperate, the nurse at the hospital told journalists that even though he’s taking slow to respond to the operation, he will be able to have children by the use of one testicle.
Due to the increasing number of pupils’ assault by teachers in Kisii County, education officers and Police from Manga Police Station have started investigating into the matter to ensure the family get justice where the mother is requesting for.
“He told me that the headmaster and another teacher had beaten him up badly and that he had a lot of pain in his genitals. He couldn’t walk or sit up properly. Later, I went to the school to ask what had happened to my son, but I was chased away,” said the tearful mother.
Initially, the mother had reported the matter to the police where Nyamira police boss James Mitugo confirmed to journalists that they had received the case and probing into it.
“We have the care and we are pursuing it” Mr. Mitugo said.
