Hotel Worker Drowns In Lake
Police in Kabale District have discovered the dead body belonging to a hotel worker floating on Lake Bunyonyi.
The deceased, identified as 20-year-old Nuwagaba Gerivaz, a resident of Kabumba, Kabale District was an employee at Paradise Eco Hub Hotel along Lake Bunyonyi.
According to police reports, Nuwagaba approached his bosses at around 10:00 PM on 30th March, 2023 asking for his monthly salary. Shortly after he was paid, witnesses spotted him purchasing and drinking alcohol from a small bottle.
He is said to have disappeared again to an unknown location and skipped work the following morning. When his bosses and fellow workers knocked on his door, there was no sign of him. They discovered his jacket and mobile phone in the canoe before seeing his body floating on the water near the hotel on Saturday morning.
It was then that the hotel manager, Byamugisha Silas alerted the marine police who retrieved the body and registered the cause of death as drowning under SD Ref. 03/01/04/2023.
Elly Matte, the Kigezi region police spokesperson advised locals to stay away from any activity on water while under the influence of alcohol.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for burial.
