Boni Khalwale Forced To Pay Protesters In Kisumu To Get A Pass

Kakamega Senator in the Senate Dr. Boni Khalwale was on Thursday cornered by protesters while on his way from Kisumu International Airport in Kisumu.

The Senator, who is also the Majority Whip in the senate, posted on social media account said he was forced to part with money to be allowed to pass the heavily barricaded roads.

Khalwale revealed that protestors have taken charge of a major road in the town and blocked it using stones and rocks.

“Our Lakeland neighbourhood is truly troubled. Roads in Kisumu are barricaded by stones, rocks, burning tyres, and much more. To thread through from the Airport, I’ve been forced to buy my way past the roadblocks,” posted Khalwale..

Kisumu is one of the heavily affected areas with the ongoing demonstration forcing many travelers to find other ways to the lake side counties and western areas.

Kisumu airport has been one of the gateways to the western region.

Protestors lit bonfires at Kibuye, along the Kisumu-Kakamega highway.

It is not clear where the Senator was heading  to but it could be presumed that he was on his way to his home in Kakamega.

Kisumu residents on Thursday morning took to the streets to heed to calls by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
