Police in Namayingo District have arrested three men for burying a four-year-old child alive in what is believed to be a money ritual.

The suspects are identified as Mukuve Isma, 27, Bagaga Isa Keeya 50 and Bruhan Muzamiru by residents of Bulamba B, Namayingo Town Council. They are accused of abducting four year old Rahma Nalubega, a daughter to Muwanguzi Yasin and burying her alive in order to get rich.

And according to police reports, Nalubega disappeared from her home on 4th March, 2023 and was never found despite the search in different areas around the village.

Mukuve Isma upon arrest led the police together with residents to the garden where they buried the little girl. While digging up the body, Mukuve who was handcuffed revealed that Nalubega was thrown in the shallow grave while still alive and died of suffocation.

Nalubega’s body was discovered dead, face down. Her body was wrapped in a body bag and transported to Buyinja Health Center IV for postmortem as investigations were going on. Mukuve further added that they acted under the orders of Bagaga who happens to be the child’s grandfather. He reportedly directed them on the size of the grave that they buried the deceased in.

The deceased was related to all the three men that murdered her in cold blood, something that has left locals wondering and seeking to take the law into their own hands.

“Those people deserve to die. We are in so much pain because our children are not safe in their own homes. We need the government to provide enough security for our children,” an angry resident said.

ASP Kakana James OC at Namayingo police confirmed the news about Nalubega’s death and revealed that the suspects were currently in police custody. He encouraged parents to always look out for their children to avoid falling victims.

“We arrested three suspects who are accused of taking part in the crime. We are investigating further. Youths should dedicate their lives to working hard and avoid dubious ways of getting quick money,” he said.
