Woman Commits Suicide After Killing Grandchild.
Fear gripped residents of Kabalagala, Kampala City after a woman killed her grandchild in cold blood and later committed suicide.
The deceased was identified as Namukose Faridah and according to eyewitnesses; the pair was in perfect health with no known illnesses before the tragic event. The residents were alerted by the neighbors who noticed that she did not step out of her house for a long time. When they tried to reach out, they were shocked to find their lifeless bodies in their home. Namukose had a rope tied around her neck and the toddler was lying beside her, also dead.
Residents struggled to put together the reason as to why Namukose decided to end both their lives because she had previously lived a seemingly okay life with family, friends and her marriage. They however hinted on a few occasions that Namukose and her husband had had misunderstandings but they were settled immediately with the help of local leaders.
One eye witness however, suspects that the deceased took the decision because of the extreme poverty that she was living in.
“If you look at where she was staying and the conditions she was living in, it may have been reason enough for her to decide to take her life. I think she reached a point and could not take it anymore.” The village counselor revealed.
Police visited the crime scene and took the two dead bodies for postmortem.
