Head Teacher Remanded For Aggravated Defilement Of Pupil

A primary school head teacher in Kaliro District has been remanded on charges of aggravated defilement on a 16 year old minor.

 

According to the prosecution led by Tayani Emmanuel the incident happened on 13th March, 2023 at approximately 7:30 PM. The accused Joseph Muhambi, a resident of Budomero, Kaliro District allegedly offered the victim a lift on his bicycle on her way home after the evening lessons.

 

The victim whose name has been withheld agreed to the offer since it was getting late but just as they approached an isolated area, the head teacher dragged her into the bush and defiled her. The following day, 14th March, the child is said to have gone to school limping, something that attracted the attention of the school woman teacher.

 

“When asked why she was walking like that, she explained how the head teacher had defiled her and threatened to kill her in case she told anyone what happened,” the prosecutor spoke before court.

 

Following the incident, the senior woman teacher alerted the police, who immediately arrested the head teacher.

 

Grade one Magistrate Namayanja Nazifa read the accused his charges, noting that it could only be tried in High cur since it was a capital offence. He is currently remanded to Kaliro Government Prisons until 26th April, 2023 when he will be aligned and tried before Iganga High Court.
