Woman Strangled To Death In Her Home
Police in Sembabule District are investigating circumstances under which one resident was strangled to death in her home by unknown assailants.
The deceased identified as 40 year old Rosemary Namwanje, a local bar owner and renowned coffee trader was murdered yesterday at approximately 2 AM. It is suspected that this gruesome crime was committed by goons with an aim of stealing the money she had stashed away after a huge coffee sale deal.
Police from Sembabule visited the crime scene with a K-9 police dog to sniff for any evidence and it led the forces to the coffee machine but there was not any arrest due to lack of evidence.
The deceased’s sister, Nakintu Christine who was in the village at the time of the murder, amidst tears revealed that she got to know about the sad news over the phone. Other residents confirmed that Rosemary was an unproblematic neighbor and whoever killed her wanted did it solely for the money.
“She was a very hardworking woman and we are so sad that we lost her. In her own house, we believe that they murdered her for her money.” A neighbor said.
The Muslim leader Sheikh Lubira Sserunjooji noted that the late was never careful on how she lived her life but tasked police to increase security surveillance especially at night.
“She cared less about her safety. She would stay out very late considering she had a bar. Many of these had ill intentions and she had little protection.” Sheikh Sserunjoji revealed.
The body of the deceased was taken for postmortem.
