Rwanda, Tanzania Have The Highest Life Expectancy Among All East African Countries


National Institute of Statistics has now reported that Rwanda and Tanzanian citizens have the highest lifespan percentage in East Africa.

 

In a two- day forum held in Kigali Rwanda dubbed the 18th National Dialogue Umushyikirano on Monday and Tuesday, the statistics depicted Rwandans live at least 66- 69 years ahead of most East Africa citizens.

 

The event chaired by Rwandan president, Paul Kagame was physically held for the first time since the coming of COVID-19; aimed at bringing together citizens, local government officials, Cabinet and parliament representatives amongst many others stakeholders together.

 

According to statistics, Rwanda life expectancy is at 69.6 percentage up from 51.5 percentage in 2002 data report recorded by the Housing Census, 2022.

 

On the other hand, Tanzania life expectancy stands at 65 years, Burundi 61years, DRC 60 years, Uganda and Kenya at 63 years as South Sudan comes last with a life expectancy at 55 years.

 

But according to World Bank statistics, Rwanda life expectancy is at 67 years and female having a higher life expectancy than male at 51.5 percentage and 48.5 percentage respectfully.

 

The annual dialogue held since 2003, provides a platform for stakeholders to discuss the most pressing issues facing the Rwandan country ranging from the social, economic, political and environment issues.
