Two Children Burn To Death In House Fire
Police is investigating the cause of a fierce fire that tore through a house and burned to death two children in Butenga village, Bukomansimbi District.
According to onlookers, the two children including a month old baby, were left locked inside the house by their mother when the fire broke out that night. It is said she had gone for work when the incident that claimed the lives of her children happened.
Residents state that they witnessed a cloud of smoke coming out of the house windows and rushed to put the fire out. When they finally made their way into the house, they found the two children already deceased.
‘As it approached 7am, we saw a cloud of smoke coming out of the house and tried to put the fire out. We entered the house to rescue the children but they were dead,” a witness reported.
The neighbors accuse the mother of negligence and always leaving her toddlers without any adult supervision inside a locked house.
“Prior to the incident, we had already reported to police about her locking her children locked in the house.” A second witness noted.
Leaders called upon parents to always be mindful about the safety of their children. This is one of the many cases happening in different parts of the country where children are left alone in houses with dangerous items like candle and charcoal stoves.
