Excitement As Kenyan Student Bags KSh 7.5 Million Grant To Set Up Night Club

A Kenyan student, Jesse Mugambi is over the moon after bagging millions of shillings to come up with an innovative and sustainable project in Nairobi, Kenya.

Mugambi, who is a student at the University of Brighton secured a $50,000 grant aimed at revolutionising the local entertainment industry.

This, he was lucky to achieve after winning the international Save The Night competition organized by alcohol brand Jagermeister.

Mugambi secured the grant with his presentation, rather pitch to change the Kenyan entertainment scene by introducing a nightclub and music studio, all built from repurposed shipping containers.

The scholar’s innovative concept of repurposing shipping containers to create a music studio and nightclub in Nairobi earned him the prestigious prize.

Mideyah Digital understands his project, Studio Can-V, beat 300 contestants from 50 countries to emerge the winner.

His project, Studio Can-V has been termed as a versatile space that seamlessly transitions from a daytime hub for young DJs to a vibrant nightclub, promoting a sense of community and creativity among Nairobi’s youth.

Mugambi aims to foster a sense of pride and cultural identity as he also highlights the importance of sustainability and environmental consciousness in architectural design by utilising decommissioned shipping containers and local designs in his upcoming project.

According to Mugambi, his initiative will not only benefit aspiring deejays but also musicians and music enthusiasts in Kenya.

That is not all, the UK-based student ensured that his project will set a new standard for eco-friendly design and community inclusivity in nightlife spaces.

“Having faced challenges in pursuing my own passion for music, I’m driven by the belief that there are countless young and old people longing for opportunities to explore their musical itch,” he disclosed.
