Wall Collapses, Crushes Three Siblings To Death

Residents of Kajjansi along Entebbe Highway were left in mourning after three children were crushed to death by a wall that collapsed during the heavy rains on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Ssekatawa Daniel 3, 18-months-old Ssenabulya Grace and 2-months-old Nannono Mary. The incident happened at around 4 AM in the presence of their parents at their home in Nakigalala – Kijoona, Kajjansi in Wakiso District. One of the children was rescued and rushed to hospital in critical condition.

“We were in the house with our four children and their father sleeping when the rains started. The wall of the house fell on our children. I Screamed and called the neighbors and by the time they came, the children were dead,” mother to the deceased, Nakyanzi Gorret, 30, said.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Onyango Patrick revealed that the wall was very weak because they used unbaked bricks during construction and the person that did the job was an amateur.

“We were notified about the incident and responded to the crime scene…Police documented the scene and recorded statements from relevant witnesses,” he said.
The bodies of the deceased were transported to Mulago Referral Hospital for postmortem.
