Sonko took this moment as an opportunity to mend fences with the former President, seeking forgiveness for his past rude behavior following their fallout.
“May God forgive me for the insults, unkind words, and anything I may have said to provoke you in retaliation. I, too, have forgiven you for any wrongdoings and persecution.
It serves as a testament to the friendship that the two leaders once shared before President Kenyatta’s tenure, bridging the divide that emerged after Uhuru created the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) office led by Major General Mohamed Badi, which ultimately resulted in Sonko’s impeachment.
“Happy birthday, my brother, and may your additional year bring you happiness,” Sonko continued, underscoring the importance of extending goodwill and forgiveness in accordance with biblical teachings.
Quoting from the book of Matthew 5:43, Sonko invoked the words of Jesus to his message: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
Additionally, Sonko referred to Luke 6:27-30, highlighting the importance of love and forgiveness. “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
This unexpected act of generosity was accompanied by a cake, a card, and a selection of the finest alcoholic beverages.
