Anne Waiguru Vouches For One Man One Shilling
Council of Governors (CoG) Chairperson Anne Waiguru has now called for the one man one shilling proposal to ensure equity in distribution of resources.
Addressing the Press after issuing bursaries to County Residents worth KES 108M the Kirinyaga County Chief claimed that due to the high population in the Central Region resources are not sufficient enough to cater for the residents.
“The bursaries we are giving out are not enough, I want to join those calling for increased funding for counties in Mt. Kenya especially for bursaries. We are proposing even if it is a conditional grant, we will be grateful because this will help our children remain in school,” Waiguru said.
She further decried the fact that as other counties were disbursing 100% of their bursary fund distribution theirs was a sad story of shs.2000 or 3000 due to the Rise of Applicants.
The bursaries will assist 40,565 needy students drawn from 20 wards who are studying in various secondary schools, universities and tertiary institutions.
