Pastor Ezekiel Defy Police Tension To Lead Sunday Service
Mavueni: New Life Prayer and Church center in Kilifi County has held its Sunday service since its closure on 27th, April 2023.
The service led by preacher Ezekiel Odero, nearly got interrupted by Coast police officers in the morning who arrived at the church with an intention of closing it.
According to Lawyer Danstan Omari, worshippers arrived at the Church at 5am and found the police officers blocking them from holding the service alleging having been sent by the Coast regional commissioner, Rhoda Onyancha.

Upon interrogation by Danstan Omari, Ms Onyancha had verbally ordered the police to close the church without written court orders.
“They arrived at the church’s gate very early in the morning around 5 am and barricaded the entry. They intended to block the service from happening,” Omari told one media outlet.
Further, he said after asking them for a written statement from the court barring worshippers to hold their Sunday service despite having ordered IG Koome to re-open the church on 2nd, April, the police officers lacked evidence towards the inquiry.

“As far as we are concerned, there was no court order blocking the Sunday service. So we engaged them asking for the same and they could not serve us” Wakili Omari added.
The police later talked to the regional commissioner who therein let them leave the place, allowing spirited worshippers with hunger for God’s word attend the service.
