Four Men Arrested For Sodomizing, Recruiting Young Boys Into Homosexuality

One of the suspects Tony Mutakubwa

Police in Buvuma are holding in custody a total of four people for allegedly raping, grooming and recruiting young boys into homosexuality.

The two men and women were arrested after a parent, also a resident Betty Nambafu pointed out one of the suspects identified as Tony Mutakubwa alias ‘Coach’ for raping her 27-year-old son.

Betty says that Mutakubwa tricked her son, only identified as Mike, into drinking juice from the glass that he gave him, causing him to black out.

“My son says he became unconscious and by the time he got back to his senses, he discovered he was on his bed with his panties pulled down and his behind had been messed with,” Nambafu said during a village trial gathering.

Nambafu says after she confronted them, Mutakubwa and his groupmates gave her money to withdraw her case because it would embarrass his son.

“They told me if I spoke out, my son would commit suicide due to shame and embarrassment. They handed me Ush20,000 to buy my child painkillers which I turned down,” she said.

Mutakubwa who calls himself ‘Coach’ is said to be a new resident in the area and locals call him out for training recruiting the boys in the area into homosexuality, an act that is against their cultural and religious beliefs.

“He has done a very big job in spreading this vice in our village. When we got the news about what he was doing, we tried stopping him but we discovered that he had a huge team working with him,” one resident said.

The suspects were paraded before the village gathering at Lukale Fishing Village before being handed over to the police. In this meeting, residents expressed their disgust and anger, calling upon police to help eliminate the group before they prey on other young men.

OC ASP Posiano says such vices have become common in Buvuma and as police, they are doing their best to see that they are apprehended.

Buvuma’s Resident District Commissioner Jackline Birungi promised the residents that the matter was being investigated and the culprits would be punished if found guilty.
